What Is Somatic Coaching?

How Somatic Coaching Differs From Regular Coaching

Somatic coaching focuses on expanding embodied awareness to connect deeper to self and create positive and lasting change in various factors of life such as leadership, relationships and personal journey.

Where general coaching focuses on thoughts and strategy alone, somatic coaching introduces mind-body techniques clinically proven to deepen the client’s connection with the felt sense of what they are focusing on to bring a more certain clarity in the session. This somatic experience is then combined with strategy to drive change, coming from a more steady core of the client.

Embodied awareness: Speaking from feelings instead of about feelings. Being present with emotions and inner patterns, gaining new insights from a direct experience with the body’s intelligence, and connecting to a deeper perspective of where one sits with a situation and what feels right.

The somatic approach, backed by interpersonal neurobiology, suggests when introducing embodied awareness into coaching, we create a deeper-rooted experience of connection- leading to more sustainable and potent results.

What Our Somatic Coaching Would Look Like…

When coaching my clients I notice the importance of combining structure with fluidity. As I have a background in both Psychology and Somatic coaching, I like to combine the practicality of psychology and the compassionate nature of somatic work to help my clients have a more embodied experience with coaching.

I believe lasting change and growth comes from connection and momentum, and when I combine the lessons from the mind and the experience from the felt sense (mind-body connection), this gives my client the feeling of change before they have even left the session.

What does this look like?

We will start our session together with a look at what you are wanting to focus on, whether that’s an ambition you have or a longing to change the way you relate to yourself or a situation. Once we have found what you would like to explore together, and we have an understanding of the outcome you are looking for, we can delve deeper together using somatic techniques to encourage a connection with your whole self, and a fresh experience of what you are focusing on, gaining new clarity, next steps, and shift that has built momentum already.
